To cover my basic needs of medical insurance, food, clothing, transportation, communication, and housing, my mission requires me to raise $650 per month, which for 14 months comes to a total of $9,100.
Heart's Home is a non-profit organization funded completely through private donations raised primarily through each individual volunteer. As a new member of the Heart's Home family, I have been asked to extend this 'family' and thus create an even larger 'network of compassion'. This method of sponsorship is something that makes Heart's Home unique among the myriad organizations performing similar services. It allows me to involve my friends, family, and neighbors in my mission in a very real way and to increase the awareness of the suffering that ravages our world and of Heart's Home's efforts to respond to that pain.
These 'networks of compassion' are crucial to the mission of compassion lived out by Heart's Home volunteers because when the work is draining and the suffering and loneliness we experience overwhelming, they serve as the support nets that sustain the missionaries, enabling us to zealously and lovingly persevere in our efforts to bring the light of hope to those in utter darkness.
Sponsorship takes two forms, both of which are crucial:
- Financial Sponsors, who can contribute through a one time or monthly donation, both of which are tax deductible. Heart's Home has made it easy to donate online. If you choose to do a recurring payment, enter in the months: I will be gone from December 2010 to February 2012.
- Spiritual Sponsors, who commit to pray daily for me throughout my time in Vienna.
To keep the sponsors involved in the mission of which they are a vital part, I will commit to pray for my sponsors and their intentions every day, and I will send a letter every two months to all of my sponsors that will share my stories and experiences, and serve to enlighten you on the life and work that your support enables. Please be sure to include your e-mail address if you have one. It is a less expensive and more environmentally friendly way to send the bi-monthly letters by e-mail.
